Fearfully and wonderfully made

Leonardo DaVinci once wrote that the highest aspiration of art is to depict "the intention of man's soul." The invisible can only made known through the visible and the human body is greatest means by which the immortal, invisible, God chose to make himself known. As a sketch and figure drawing artist, my goal is to communicate the inner strength and spirit of my subject through gesture, face and eye.

Summer Sketching






Sketching in parks and the mall--this spring was wonderful for drawing people. During the weeks leading up the Flood, however, people were tense and those willing to sit five minutes for a drawing were few and far between. It seems that when the flood broke, people have started to relax again. Hopefully, there'll be some good days ahead for sketching this summer, if the gnats don't keep everyone at bay!
